Might be a silly question but i thought fetch was an instinctive game for a dog?

that is pretty funny actually, thinking fetching is instinctual ... even dogs that will fetch need to be trained to do so and some dogs do not fetch at all regardless of training ... and a 3 month old lab is pretty much a newborn, could you catch a ball when you were a newborn ??? you can train the dog to fetch but it is not natural instinct ...
