The end of movie se7en is not in accordance with the story, what do you think?

I know what you mean the exact same thing bugs me about that movie 5 guilty ( in a way ) but she's innocent - and I love the film too. those last two sins wrath and envy don't sit well with me - although it's still a pretty shocking ending the first time you see it. my alternate ending would be...if the real John Doe did an Iago on some mentally unstable guy ( let's call him Jeff) and convinced him that Mills life and wife should really be his and got Jeff to kill Mills wife - then Mills and Somerset catch the guy just as he kills her and Mills kills him and they think they've solved the case because Joh Doe has set Jeff up too look like he is the killer - then in the end Mills is getting counselling from the real John Doe?
