Why do some musicians seem to insist that you must like every musical genre you come across?

people that limit themselves by the label or genre are very narrow minded. it's much better to throw the label out the window and go by how you hear and "receive" the vibe of music without those limitations. that doesn't mean you have to like or enjoy every song out there, but why would one limit themselves because of some label that's put on music?
